EXPERIENCE
NETMATION INC., Bellevue, WA, President, 1991-Present

  • Assisted companies in their assessment of business processes and related internal controls for IT Sarbanex-Oxley (SOX) compliance. Helped clients evaluate risks, identify controls, develop and implement processes and controls, create and execute test plans, and have discussions with the external auditors concerning those controls.

  • Started and managed an Internet Hosting business. Responsible for the design and project management for a large collection of Intranet/Internet sites across a wide range of industries, hardware platforms and software development tools. Supported both Microsoft Windows (IIS, SQL Server, ASP, ASP.NET) and Linux (Apache, mySQL, PHP) technologies.

  • Responsible for all planning, management and staffing of various consulting engagements. Formulation of business partnerships related to a wide range of services, not limited to real estate, job placement, internet, and informational data bases. Duties include consulting with customers onsite, manage customer contracts and accounts, develop strategic partnerships with third-party consulting firms and maintain production schedules and manage contractor labor.

  • Setup and launched an accounting, tax, and bookkeeping outsourcing business for small and mid-sized companies. Business assisted clients in setting up and maintaining a variety of accounting packages, with the main focus on Peachtree and Quickbooks.

  • Setup and launched a real estate discount brokerage business for the residential market place. Business assisted the "for sale by owner" market in selling their properties while saving on real estate commissions. Business has received customer service rewards and continues to benefit home buyers and sellers in the Pacific Northwest.

  • Consulted to a wide range of small businesses concerning their use of technology and implementation of recommended solutions. Solutions dealt with hardware, software and telecommunications implementations and troubleshooting. Large focus was with Microsoft products and solutions, including but not limited to: Small Business Server, Visual Studio, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Publisher, Project, Front Page, and Visio.

  • Created a variety of business Internet/Intranet applications using a code generation tool which allows for the customization of each program for businesses. Sample of these business applications are: classifieds, employee directory, event management, forums, mailing list, knowledge base, chat, and a portal system. They can be implemented using a variety of software source code technologies, including ASP, JSP, PHP, Perl, ColdFusion, or ASP.NET/C# . Backend data base support is flexible so that businesses can use Access, SQL Server or mySQL along with the capability of adding E-commerce features.

  • Design and development of a large collection of computer programs and all supporting integrated data base systems. Program includes over 200 modules including: modem communications, fax, video, sound, graphic viewers, file managers, multi-user data bases, automatic software updates, network support, and a custom installation program. Programming was done in Microsoft Professional Basic and Visual Basic, and used a wide variety of 3rd party controls.

  • Designed and implemented an on-line computer system to allow real time access to a wide range of services. Some of the features include the ability to access and view color images, sound files, video, text files and a custom communications front end program which automated various tasks for the end user.

  • ERNST & YOUNG, Dallas, TX, Manager, 1987-1991

    • Managed the design, development and implementation of a security and accounting reconciliation system in the transportation industry. Project involved the reverse engineering of over 400 programs prior to integrating the new design features into the existing system. Project was completed on time and under budget.

    • Developed a long range information system plan for one of the world's largest engineering and construction firms. Activities included analyzing existing technologies for firm standards regarding hardware, local area networks, relational data bases, user interface management systems, and application programming tools. Developed technical architecture of various vendors including DEC/VAX workstation and Digital Corporation networking products. Extensive analysis of existing applications and plans for future development efforts were conducted.

    • Coordinated the operation of a cost accounting pilot for Andersen Consulting's MACPAC/D Contract Inventory Accounting module. Responsible for the planning, execution and issue resolution of various technical issues required throughout the piloting process.

    • Reviewed cost management practices for a Fortune 500 manufacturer. Project dealt with creating a cost model of the existing and proposed methodologies. Deliverables included short and long term recommendations for their cost management practices and how these recommendations would affect their MRP II system implementation.

    • Designed and developed a multiuser litigation support system for one of the largest law firms in Texas. System was used to collect information regarding documents and perform flexible reporting over a three year time period.

    • Responsible for various technical reviews, evaluations and implementation assistance relating to office technologies such as image processing, video teleconferencing and local area networks. Wrote a series of technology reports which were distributed to a Big 6 Accounting Firm's clients. Monthly issues included local area networks, video teleconferencing, retail point of sale, micro computer accounting, law firm systems and artificial intelligence.

    • Developed a workshop to discuss the implementation of Oracle's methodology, CASE and application development tools within various development organizations. Topics included how Oracle's CASE tools can be most effectively implemented and how to create plans for developing corporate standards pertaining to the use of Oracle's development products, CASE*Generator, CASE*Dictionary, SQL*Plus, SQL*Forms and Application Foundation.

    • Conducted analysis of seven manufacturer's control of material from receipt to shipment of finished goods. Typically reviewed all control points and operational aspects of the process and made recommendations on how to improve data accuracy and operational efficiency.

    • Managed the operational review of an inventory tracking, route accounting system, for a wholesale distributor with multiple warehouse locations. Recommendations to modify their daily operations accounted for over $100,000 of annual savings.
    TEXAS INSTRUMENTS, Dallas, TX, Systems Engineer, 1982-1987

    • Managed the design, development and implementation of a JustInTime inventory system with bar code interfaces. The system allowed the manufacturer to change the existing operational methodology allowing a 40% reduction in manufacturing cycle time through the shop. Responsibilities included detailed design, coordination of all development, system testing, acceptance testing, user training and procedures documentation.

    • Developed strategic plans for the implementation of an award winning Computer Integrated Manufacturing facility for a $1.5 billion defense contractor. Analysis included computer simulations to aid the design of an automated material distribution system, warehouse conveyors, robotic cells and PWB shop layouts. In addition, capacity specifications for a multisite communication network and a market study of CAE/CAD/CAM tools for mechanical, electrical and software engineering were developed.

    • Developed plans for the implementation of CAE/CAD/CAM tools throughout a multisite corporation. Addressed evaluation of solid modeling, drafting and analysis tools, networking of workstations and configuration management of all data from conceptual design through manufacturing. Primary emphasis dealt with mechanical, electrical and software engineering tools along with their integration requirements between the disciplines.
